Summer fishing here in Topsail Island is officially in full swing, and the action has been fantastic! We’re seeing fish transition nicely into their summer patterns after a very productive spring run.

Today, our focus in the inshore waters of North Topsail Beach was primarily on Red Drum. The conditions were quite favorable with calm waters and an outgoing tide, which often gets the fish moving. We experienced variable weather, with periods of overcast skies followed by sunshine, and the fish didn’t seem to mind either! The primary technique proving successful for these Red Drum was sight-casting, which is always a thrill. Spotting those Reds in the clear water and making the perfect cast is what it’s all about.
