Post-Front Recovery: Captain Mike Hoffman April 11 2026 Report

The resilience of the North Carolina coast is on full display this week. According to the Captain Mike Hoffman April 11 2026 fishing report, the inshore action is rebounding rapidly after a challenging weather week. A “horrible” cold front recently swept through, bringing harsh winds that physically pushed the water out of the shallow flats. Fortunately, the water has returned, the sunny skies have reappeared, and the bite is officially picking back up.

The Return of the Flats: Redfish in the Grass

The primary focus of the April 11 2026 update is the return of the Red Drum to their spring haunts. As the water levels stabilized this week, large schools of Redfish moved back into the flats and along the seagrass patches. These fish are highly sensitive to temperature. With the sun warming the shallow mud and grass, their metabolism is kickstarting once again. This creates a “hot” bite for those fishing in North Topsail Beach and Surf City.

Topwater and Bait Tactics

Variety is the name of the game for mid-April. The Captain Mike Hoffman report highlights several successful methods for targeting these rebounding schools. While live bait and cut bait remain consistent producers for schooling Reds, there is even more exciting news: the topwater bite is starting to produce. With calm water and a light breeze, walking-the-dog with a surface lure can trigger explosive strikes. For the best results, look for fish actively feeding in the grass lines during the morning hours.

A Great Week to Take Your Kids Fishing | Captain Mike Hoffman April 11 2026 Fishing Report

Conditions right now are ideal for a family outing. The Captain Mike Hoffman experience is built around accessible, high-action fishing that is perfect for young anglers. Sight-casting to schools in clear, shallow water provides a visual thrill that keeps children engaged. As the water temperatures continue to climb, we are all hoping the late-season cold fronts are finally behind us. It is a beautiful time to get out and enjoy the spring season on the water.

The latest Captain Mike Hoffman Fishing Report insights prove that even a tough front can’t keep the Topsail bite down for long. Whether you are a local or just visiting for the week, the fish are back and they are ready to eat.
