The moment we’ve been waiting for is finally here! This is your official kickoff report for the amazing **fall fishing Topsail Beach** is famous for. An incredible amount of bait has flooded the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW), and as a result, the predator fish have gone into a frenzy. The inshore bite in both Topsail and Surf City has been absolutely amazing. We are seeing large schools of Redfish and Speckled Trout everywhere. In fact, the action is so consistent it makes for some of the most memorable fishing of the entire year. If you want to experience this exciting fall bite, now is the time to plan your trip.

Current Conditions and Winning Tactics

We have sunny skies and an incoming tide, which are great for fishing. The water is a bit murky right now, but that’s actually helping the bite. For instance, the cloudy water makes fish less spooky, so they feed more aggressively even in bright sun. Because of the lower visibility, tactics that create noise and vibration are working best.

First and foremost, live mullet has been the undeniable MVP. The large schools of trout and redfish are keyed in on this natural bait, and it’s producing the most bites. In addition, topwater baits are getting some explosive strikes, especially in the morning. The commotion they create helps fish locate the lure in the murky water. We are also having success with soft plastic flukes that mimic the local baitfish.

Species Spotlight: Redfish & Trout

The fall schooling activity is in full swing. We are finding large schools of **Redfish** everywhere around the ICW. There’s nothing quite like watching a school of a hundred redfish push water as they hunt for bait. It is truly a sight to behold! Similarly, the **Speckled Trout** are also ganged up and feeding heavily. They are ambushing bait along current rips and oyster bars, providing fast and furious action for our anglers.
