Post-Freeze Success: Captain Mike Hoffman February 24 2026 Report

Coastal waters are showing signs of a major transition after the recent freeze. According to the Captain Mike Hoffman February 24 2026 fishing report, scouting trips during this warm front reveal fish moving back into winter haunts. Strong winds and choppy conditions remain. However, the water stays clear. This offers great opportunities for anglers who brave the elements.

Docks and Structure: The Scouting Update

Fish rely heavily on hard structure during these temperature swings. The Captain Mike Hoffman February 24 2026 scouting sessions confirmed this behavior. “Black drum, Redfish, and sheepshead are schooled up on the docks after the freezing temps we had last week,” Mike reports. These docks provide thermal refuge and steady food. Fish are packing tightly around pilings in North Topsail Beach and Surf City despite the overcast skies.

Patience Leads to Better Results

Winter fishing requires a change in pace. The Captain Mike Hoffman February 24 2026 update emphasizes that fish are present in high numbers but need coaxing. Patience is your most important tool right now. Clear water makes it easier to locate schools. However, you must use a slow, deliberate presentation. This triggers strikes from cautious Sheepshead or lethargic Black Drum. This bite will grow more aggressive as the warming trend continues.

Take Your Kids Fishing!

Fishing is about more than just the catch. Captain Mike Hoffman believes in passing on the tradition. The next few weeks will offer a “really good” time to get on the water as temperatures stabilize. It is the perfect opportunity to take your kids fishing. Enjoy a family-friendly environment with Topsail Island Fishing Guides.

The latest Captain Mike Hoffman February 24 2026 insights show that fish are ready if you have the patience to find them. Do not let the wind keep you at home. The bite is just getting started.
